Community Spotlight: Twelve Rivers Realty

The tagline above is from Twelve Rivers Realty (TRR), a locally founded and owned real estate firm. Our team at LifeWorks couldn’t imagine a better community partner to help elevate our core belief that “everyone deserves a place to call home.” We are fortunate to count TRR among our most loyal and committed supporters and are thrilled they are being honored this week by the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Austin Chapter as the Outstanding Philanthropic Small Corporation of the Year for 2021.
TRR began their support of LifeWorks in 2012 and the partnership has deepened ever since. In 2020 alone, the TRR team demonstrated their “heart of gold” nature through the following impactful efforts:
· Frosty Gives Back – Organized and sponsored vibrant live-streamed event raising over $20,0000 to benefit LifeWorks and Explore Austin.
· Point in Time (PIT) Count – Six employees joined to walk the streets of Austin overnight for our community’s annual homeless census.
· Client housing – Used their real estate expertise to help secure permanent housing for four LifeWorks clients this past summer.
· PPE donations – Fundraised to donate 800 surgical masks to our Youth Resource Center, protecting staff and homeless youth.
· Put on for LifeWorks - Hosted a digital concert featuring Questlove and DJ Kayper, raising $3,100 for LifeWorks and providing meals to our affordable housing community residents.
· Water donations – During the recent weather and infrastructure crisis, secured two truckloads of potable water for the basic needs of clients impacted by water shutoffs.
· Legacy Circle and individual support – Three employees joined our multi-year giving society and encouraged colleagues to also support LifeWorks.
The TRR team understands how to “meet donors where they are” with a contagious enthusiasm for inspiring people to engage philanthropically in a way that feels inclusive, genuine, impactful and above all fun. The result is younger people dancing the night away for a good cause, early risers eager to walk the streets of Austin to understand the faces of homelessness, or nationally-known celebrities like Questlove willing to spin a few tunes for us as part of a Saturday afternoon fundraiser, simply because TRR asked.
Realtors typically thrive in the space of creating community, helping prospective homeowners envision the new, vibrant life that lies ahead of them in their new space. The Austin community is incredibly fortunate that Twelve Rivers Realty’s vision extends much more broadly, to encompass lifting up the Austin community’s most disenfranchised residents to create a better home for us all.
