  • If you’re 17 or younger, LifeWorks can offer you shelter. Call (512) 735-2100 and ask for “Emergency Shelter.”

If you’re 18 or older, you can find a shelter in Austin and Central Texas by visiting this website.

  • We have a variety of housing programs—including options for rapid rehousing, transitional living, permanent housing, and more.

To be considered for any LifeWorks Housing programs, you must:

    • Be 24 or younger

    • Be experiencing homelessness in Travis County

    • Complete a “Coordinated Assessment” (this is done at LifeWorks)

To learn more or apply, call LifeWorks at (512) 473-9125.

Note: If you can identify an adult who could potentially provide you with safe and stable housing, you may be eligible for our Diversion program or Family Reunification. Call us at the number above to ask about eligibility.

  • According to HUD (Housing and Urban Development) you are homeless and eligible for LifeWorks’ support if you are “literally homeless” or “fleeing/attempting to flee domestic violences.”

Learn more about these official definitions.

  • LifeWorks can help you complete a Coordinated Assessment, which is a set of questions that tells the homeless response system if someone has a need for housing

Once we complete your Coordinated Assessment together, you will be placed on a city-wide housing prioritization list. Once you’re on the list, you can be given different housing options with organizations like LifeWorks Austin. (Note: Your place on the list may change as more young people are assessed.)

Completing the Coordinated Assessment is the first step toward getting housing. We’ll be with you the whole way, helping however we can while you wait.

To learn more about LifeWorks housing programs, call (512) 473-9125.

  • You’ve already been through a lot. You deserve support, and we’ll help you get it.

    • Currently in or aged out of foster care in Texas.
